I logged in after the 0.4.0h update and, for once, the patch notes actually matched what you feel in-game. Runs are steadier, menus don't fight you as much, and the whole early access vibe is a little less "hope it holds together." If you've been trading, crafting, or just keeping an eye on PoE 2 Currency while you test builds, this is the kind of maintenance patch that quietly makes everything less painful.

Stability fixes you'll notice fast
The headline stuff is crash prevention, and it hits a few places players kept complaining about. Big guilds were a gamble: opening the member list could nuke your client, which is wild for something that basic, but it's now fixed. Another one was the ground-label overload issue—if your screen was covered in item names, the client could just tip over. That's been cleaned up too. And PS5 players finally got a targeted fix for a repeatable crash that was making console sessions feel risky, especially when you were in the middle of something you didn't want to lose.

Quest and item quirks getting untangled
On the mechanics side, 0.4.0h irons out a few "wait, that can't be right" moments. Divine Orbs weren't rerolling ring size on Controlled Metamorphs, which made the item interaction feel half-finished; it's behaving properly now. There was also a campaign issue where Abyss quest events could refuse to spawn if you'd outleveled the area. People hit that while leveling alts or coming back overgeared, and it felt like the game was punishing you for being efficient. With the fix, progression shouldn't randomly stall just because your level's too high.

Skills, supports, and controller quality-of-life
A handful of minion and support interactions got attention as well, which matters if you've been experimenting instead of sticking to safe meta picks. Wolf Pack, Cackling Companions, Last Gasp Support, and Teorod's Revenge Support have been adjusted so they work the way you'd expect when you slot them in and actually try to play. Controller users also got a couple of practical wins: stash tabs that sometimes wouldn't load on console should now open normally, and you can toggle tracking on the Prison Waygate Map Device without the interface bugging out and making you redo inputs.

Hotfix 1 and why it mattered
Not long after the patch, Hotfix 1 landed to deal with a nasty Wolf Pack problem where Spirit could get permanently reserved, and the only workaround was yanking the gem out like you were doing emergency surgery mid-build. That's now resolved, so Spirit behaves like a resource again instead of a trap. If you're the type who stockpiles crafting mats or grabs gear upgrades between sessions, it's also handy knowing places like U4gm exist for picking up game currency or items without spending your whole night stuck in trade chats.
